While sitting at home playing Call of Duty (BRO) my friend ended up being stuck an hour from home because her 4Runner wouldn't start. Instead of calling me immediately like she should have, she had some of her coworkers (doctors) attempt to jump her. That was unfruitful, and it was decided that she needed a new starter.

Two hours later, she posts on Facebook that she's having issues. I head out her way and meet her husband there, who had just arrived. A couple quick glances and we spot the problem; the positive terminal has a good bit of corrosion. We clean it off, give her a quick jump and tell her that her doctor friends owe us beers.

Don't trust a doctor to jump your car.

She's married to my best friend, who also happens to be six and a half feet and 300 pounds of drunken Irish rage

Also yeah, it's a manual V6 4Runner. I want to buy it off them and fix it up

It's a 3rd gen, I think 1998. It's in poor condition though. Good bit of rust, slave cylinder is out, front is banged up, interior is torn to shreds. Engine is good though for now - she doesn't have the greatest track record when it comes to cars.

How many times was the starter struck with a rock before you showed up?

I don't think they knew where the starter was

Well that's good news for the starter.

My dad had one of those (98, manual, v6) and sold it to my brother last year. It has almost 300,000 miles on it and it's still going strong. The interior was mint when he sold it - I doubt that is still the case. I miss it dearly now that it lives on the opposite side of the country.
